Lines of Inquiry -
-Forms of media

-Interpreting media messages
We discussed what media is, what media literacy is, the purpose of media, and ways we see/hear media to persuade/tell us. We then moved on to discuss how we see media everyday.
Language:
Students in grade one continued to work on list writing for their Ontario Writing Assessment. Today students were told to pretend they were getting a new dog/cat, they had to make a list of supplies they would buy for this new pet. Students reviewed that Lists need a title, you can use numbers, hyphens, or points, and that they do not need to be very long ideas.
Students in grade two reviewed persuasive writing for their Ontario Writing Assessment. Today as a group we made a persuasive advertisement for pizza. Students had to think of a catchy name for the pizza, brainstorm ideas that will make people want to buy their pizza, pick their target audience, and the reason why the audience should buy your pizza. Once we completed our advertisement we then presented it to the grade ones. We asked them what part of our advertisement made them want to buy our pizza or what part made them not want to buy our pizza.
Daily Five
Students worked on their writing skills by completing a assignment about a pumpkin. Students had to write five sentences about their pumpkin.
1) Their pumpkin's name
2) The colour and size of their pumpkin
3) How many teeth their pumpkin has
4) an adjective describing their pumpkin
