Today we learned about the learner profile of Caring. Students discussed what Caring meant to them and we talked about what IB's idea of caring is:
I care about how other people feel, I help when they need me. I want others around me to be happy.
We then discussed the attitude of empathy and how it complements caring:
Putting myself in someone else's shoes.
We read the story the kissing hand and discussed where and how we saw caring and empathy being shown in the story:
We then made our own lists of how we can be caring friends at home and at school.
Once we completed this activity we added it to our IB binders along with 3 pieces of work from our simple machines unit
The first piece being one that displayed our best work, the second being one the showed we worked really hard on something and the third being one piece we think we need to improve on.
I also printed off a picture of them with their simple machine so they were able to choose that as one of their pieces.
Tomorrow is our math test so students were able to ask questions and finish their review

Cowboy/Cowgirl Day
It was good to see all my cowboys/cowgirls today!
Tomorrow is PJ day if it is not a snow day! Hopefully everyone stays warm and safe tonight!
In math we have been focusing on 3D shapes and 2D shapes. Learning names, vertices/corners, edges, faces, whether or not the shape can roll/stack, which are better to use when building and why. Our test will be on Thursday. The review was sent home today in case there is a snow day tomorrow your student will still have it to study. Please complete two pages and send back tomorrow.
In our UOI we have been talking about traditions/cultures and many questions have come about religion and God, and how the world is created. Being a IB school allows for all students to share their beliefs, religions. and cultures. I have asked students to be Open Minded about the other views we are hearing. We have discussed that we have beliefs that differ from others and that is OK, everyone is entitled to having their own opinion/beliefs including ourselves and no one is wrong. I would like them to be able to freely talk about these things in class and research any questions they may have. So please do not be alarmed or shocked if they come home asking some in depth questions. Please help them research and answers these questions and then bring their findings in to share with the class.
Today we also attended music class with Mr. Andrei mrandreisja.blogspot.ca
Today we also attended gym class with Mr. Slyk sjaslyk.blogspot.ca
