Unit of inquiry:
Today we took a trip to the school library to see what types of books the library has that connect with our UOI. Students were able to sign out a book of their choice.
Please practise the 7 continents of the world song: Ask your child to sing it to/with you
Seven Continents
(to the tune of: Take Me Out to the Ball Game)
Let's name all of the continents,
there are seven on Earth.
There's Europe and Asia and Australia,
North and South America.
Now don't forget about Africa,
and Antartica too.
For there's 1...2....3, 4, 5, 6, 7 con-ti-nents!
Gr. 1 students reviewed short and long vowels and how to read the words to figure out if the word has a long or short vowel. When they finished their work the grade 1's were taught by the grade 2's what a verb is and got to act out some action words!
Gr. 2 . Students were required to review what a noun is (person/name, place, thing) We then moved on to learn what a verb is. As a class we created a mind map for different action words. Students then got into partners and had each other act out different types of verbs. When the grade 1s finished their work they joined the grade 2's to be taught by the grade 2's what a verb is.
