Unit of inquiry:
Today we looked at a map and located the 7 continents of the world and the five oceans.
We then learned the 7 continents of the world song: Ask your child to sing it to/with you
Seven Continents
(to the tune of: Take Me Out to the Ball Game)
Let's name all of the continents,
there are seven on Earth.
There's Europe and Asia and Australia,
North and South America.
Now don't forget about Africa,
and Antartica too.
For there's 1...2....3, 4, 5, 6, 7 con-ti-nents!
We then completed a world map and oceans page looking at the legend and colouring the continents and the oceans the colour it told us to:
Language:
Gr. 1 students reviewed vowels and consonants, how to read sight words, and word sounds.
Gr. 2 . Students were required to learn what a noun is (person/name, place, thing) and then create a mind map for two nouns for each of those topics. Mr Sawatsky popped by to add idea to our list! Students do not learn about idea until older grades as part of speech. They were encouraged to try that one but not marked on it!
