Students in grade 1 - worked on learning the names, values, and pictures of all Canadian coins. They then used paper money to make 8 and 10 and 5 cents as well as added coins up to find the value of a set of coins.

Students in grade 2 - Students worked on the loonie and toonie page in their money booklet. They wrote the names, values, and picture for each coin and then worked on different ways to make those values and what items they could buy with that coin.

Parents please sign/initial your child's agenda to show me that you have read it, when that is done they will get a sticker to decorate their agenda each time.

Unit of inquiry:
Students continued working on their summative assessment, they will be presenting their products on Friday. Please ensure all materials are sent back to school tomorrow for us to work on.

Language:

grade 1 - students worked on rhyming words and pairs. We made a list of words we know that rhyme first:
Then they read a short story and circled the rhyming pairs and then they matched up rhyming words on the back

grade 2 - Students completed their Ontario Writing Assessment where they had to write a persuasive advertisement for a candy they have invented. When that was finished they began to work in their Ontario Writing books on the activity of creating a poster for a toy for sale.

Novel Study

We practised self to text connections by making a list of things about Henry Green and things about ourselves and then how we have some things in common with Henry. Next we read the story A Bad Case of the Stripes and used a Venn  diagram to make a text to text connection about the character Camiloa Cream in the story A Bad Case of the Stripes and Henry Green in the story Chocolate Fever
