Day 41

Calendar: the special helper puts up the date, adds to our weather graph, and counts days at school.

Math: 
Students in grade 1 - reviewed telling time to the hour and half hour. We learned the difference between am/pm and when they occur. We also learned about the words noon and midnight.

Students in grade 2 - we discussed the importance of a calendar and how to use it in relation to time. We talked about days of the week, months of the year, ordinal numbers of days/numbers in a month. We also talked how to tell if a month has 30 or 31 days. The grade one's also joined us for this lesson to learn the importance of the calendar as well.

Agendas: Students wrote reminders

1. Lunch orders due Nov 20
2. Book orders due Nov 20
3.  After School Care invoices due Nov. 20
4. No school Wednesday - students are encouraged to visit their local cenotaph to pay respect. Houses points will be awarded for those who participate in Remembrance Day assemblies.
5. Students are all bringing home the story for our Christmas concert. Each student has been assigned a paragraph that they and a few others must memorize.
6. Students are bringing home their summative assessment outlines. Please read over and discuss with your child their ideas!  ****** this needs to be done for tomorrow please ******
7. Picture Orders due Nov 13

Parents please sign/initial your child's agenda to show me that you have read it, when that is done they will get a sticker to decorate their agenda each time.

Unit of inquiry:
Today we discussed our summative assessment for the end of this unit. Students were to have their topic today as per the outline. The students who came with their ideas had them approved and will begin working on it tomorrow. Students who did not have their topic must have them by tomorrow. Please feel free to begin brainstorming tonight with your child about their product and send the ideas in tomorrow!

Language:

Students in grade one: worked on their spelling words of the week involving short a sound

Students in grade two: worked on their spelling words involving long u sound.

journal prompt: today students discussed what they will be doing for Remembrance Day.


Daily Five: 
Today we read the story A Poppy is to Remember. We discussed why we remember and why it is important to. We then made our own Poppy's which we will wear to our Remembrance Day assembly tomorrow
