Students in grade one:
In order to pre-pare for our Ontario Writing assessment we began learning how to write a re-tell of a story. Students were asked to pretend they went to Mars. They were told they must give detail in their sentences (for example: colours, names, feelings, things) in order to make their writing more interesting. They were given this layout
Yesterday I went Mars (Topic sentence/Introduction)
First I
Then I
Next I
Then I
Finally I (conclusion)
Students in grade two:
We continued to work on paragraph writing. We reviewed how you must have an introduction sentence (topic sentence), at least 3 detail sentences and a concluding sentence.
Students then completed paragraph writing exercises in their Ontario Writing Books.
