Feb 1st

Language:
Students in grade 1 -

Students worked on their spelling words - please note spelling homework to come home tomorrow


Calendar: the special helper puts up the date, adds to our weather graph, and counts days at school.

Daily 5:
students completed literacy centres in groups
1. read to self
2. read to a partner
3. Word work (practising our spelling words in cursive)
4. Work on writing (Journal prompt)

Math: 

Students in grade 1 - 
Worked on various graphing pages to further their understanding of polling a group, collecting data, and placing it into a bar graph. They then had to answer question about their graphs to understand how to read a graph and understand what it is meaning.

Unit of inquiry:
today we continued our new UOI reviewing the definition of a simple machine. Then we reviewed the six types of simple machines.  Today we learned what a pulley is using grooved wheels and a rope to raise, lower, or move a load. We then began to construct our own pulleys:

  • Please be aware that Re-Registration packages are due back to the school, after Feb. 11th spots are open to the public for registration and will fill up fast as we already have a wait list!!!
