Language:
Students in grade 1 - 
Completed a journal entry on what they would do on a snow day.
Students in grade 2 -
were told they had to write an explanation of what a banana is to someone who has never seen or heard of one before

Worked on their OWA practise before our assessment. Students worked on giving detail, writing an introduction and conclusion sentence, and making a personal connection.

Calendar: the special helper puts up the date, adds to our weather graph, and counts days at school.

Students in grade 1 - 
Worked on various graphing pages to further their understanding of polling a group, collecting data, and placing it into a bar graph. They then had to answer question about their graphs to understand how to read a graph and understand what it is meaning.

Unit of inquiry:
today we continued our new UOI reviewing the definition of a simple machine.  Today we reviewed what a pulley is; using grooved wheels and a rope to raise, lower, or move a load. We tested our constructed pulleys:
