may 10th

We have begun uniform checks again! These will happen every now and again to ensure that all SJA students are wearing proper uniform. Uniform pieces must be bought through Apla and Multiform Canada. Uniform violations will be sent home if a student is not wearing the proper piece of clothing! First violation: a warning to parents. Second violation: the office will notify a parent and the correct uniform piece must be brought to the school the same day.  Third violation: uniform piece will be sent home at parent’s expense. Fourth violation: community service hours will be assigned. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

In memory of his brother who passed away, Wade Kosowan, a parent at The Maples Academy, will be bringing an ice cream truck to SJA on Wednesday, May 11th.  This truck will distribute free ice cream cones to the PYP students at SJA.  The truck will arrive at 11:30am and will stay until approximately 2pm.  Classes will be called out to the truck one by one to receive their treat.  The ice cream is free, but we are encouraging students to bring a $2 donation that will be collected and donated to the Eden Food Bank.

Language:

Students in grade one: reviewed writing an opinion piece. Students were given the story the three little bears. Students then told they were the judges and were faced with a very difficult decision to make. They had to decide whether or not Goldilocks should be grounded for her actions. Students were given both sides of the story 1) Being Goldilocks - she was hungry, tired and lost and 2) the bear family whose items were broken and food eaten.

Students were given the chance to ask Goldilocks and Little Bear questions.

Once this was complete students were then required to write their opinion piece on why she should or should not be grounded.

Calendar: the special helper puts up the date, adds to our weather graph, and counts days at school.
