April 1st

Today we discussed the autism assembly we had yesterday. I was away at a conference and wanted to ensure there were no outstanding questions. At this time I shared with the class the fact that my brother has Autism and asked the students if they had any questions about my brother or Autism for me.

Some students have decided to go home this weekend and research different types of autism. If your child asks you could you please guide them as many questions were asked and the students seemed genuinely interested. I would very much appreciate that!

Language:

Today we used our language time to finish up things from yesterday. We are learning how to write a proper letter. Students learned about the important parts of a letter, heading, greeting, body, closing. They were then given letters and asked to fix/fill in what was wrong or missing.

Calendar: the special helper puts up the date, adds to our weather graph, and counts days at school.

Math:
Students in grade 1 -
worked on adding doubles and making addition stories using doubles

Students in grade 2 -
worked on subtracting two digit numbers using base ten blocks - with trading in

Gym: sjaslyk.blogspot.ca

Unit of inquiry:
Today we finished learning about Easter and designing our Incredible eggs from the story we read yesterday. Students also wrote a short writing piece about what they would do if they found an incredible egg.

Agenda

  • cursive book writing
  • summative assessment
